Thinking about starting your therapy journey, but have a few questions? Below are just a few commonly asked questions. Feel free to also schedule your free 15 minute phone consultation to ask any additional questions that you may have.
Therapy does not look the same for everyone. Because of this, it's hard to say exactly how long therapy will last for you. You will work together with your Therapist to develop a comprehensive treatment plan, which will be tailored to your specific needs. The length of time can depend on your commitment to the process, as well as the reasons for seeking therapy.
This is a great question! In our office, we can provide adequate referrals for appropriate medical professionals, however we are not a medical doctors and cannot prescribe medication. If you are seeking appropriate medications, we encourage you to directly speak with your PCP or a psychiatrist. Keep in mind that medication does not replace therapy, but instead, in many cases, medication and therapy can work hand in hand to achieve your treatment goal.
If only it were always that simple, right?! As your therapist, our job/intentions isn't to solve your problems for you. Instead, it is to help you clarify issues so that you can solve problems on your own with guidance, support, and expertise. The goal of therapy is to make you more self-sufficient, not more dependent.
During our first session, you can expect to discuss therapy goals and expectations, as well as provide a history surrounding your desire to seek therapy. Another important aspect of the first session, is to determine if you and your Therapist are a good fit for one another. Having a trustworthy relationship and a good rapport is important in establishing the foundation for your journey together.
