How long will therapy take?

Therapy does not look the same for everyone. Because of this, it's hard to say exactly how long therapy will last for you. We will work together to develop a comprehensive treatment plan, which will be tailored to your specific needs.  The length of time can depend on your commitment to the process, as well as the reasons for seeking therapy.

Are you going to prescribe me medication?

This is a great question! As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I can provide adequate referrals for appropriate medical professionals, however I am not a medical doctor and cannot prescribe medication. If you are seeking appropriate medications, I encourage you to directly speak with your PCP or a psychiatrist. Keep in mind that medication does not replace therapy, but instead, in many cases, medication and therapy can work hand in hand to achieve your treatment goal.

isn't it better for me to solve my own problems?

As your therapist, my job/intentions is to solve your problems for you. Instead, it is to help you clarify issues so that you can solve problems on your own with my therapist’s guidance, support, and expertise. The goal of therapy is to make you more self-sufficient, not more dependent.

what can i expect at the first session?

during our first session, you can expect to discuss therapy goals and expectations, as well as provide a history surrounding your desire to seek therapy. Another important aspect of the first session, is to determine if we are a good fit for one another. Having a trustworthy relationship and a good rapport is important in establishing the foundation for our journey together.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least a 24 hour notice when cancelling your appointment, or you will be charged $100. Exceptions will be made due to emergencies, however these will need to be discussed.
